5 Stretches For Your Dog At Home

5 Dog Stretches You Can Do at Home

A simple stretching routine you can try with your dog tonight, no equipment, no experience needed, just a bit of space and a few minutes.

I filmed this one at home, and it's built to be genuinely doable, not a demonstration you watch and never try. Five stretches, walked through step by step, that you can follow along with your own dog straight away.

Stretching is a small habit with a real payoff. Done gently and regularly, it supports everyday mobility and comfort. It's also a nice way to spend a few quiet minutes with your dog, and it gives you a chance to notice how their body is moving, which is worth paying attention to.

What to watch for while you stretch

A bit of wriggling is normal, most dogs aren't used to being stretched. But it's worth paying attention to how your dog responds as you go through each move.

"If a leg feels stiff, there's real resistance, or your dog pulls away or flinches at a particular movement, that's worth noting. It doesn't mean something is wrong. It just means it's worth a proper look."

If you notice anything like this, the first step is always the same: get it checked by your vet. They're best placed to look into what's going on and rule anything out.

If your vet gives your dog the all clear, that's when ongoing joint support becomes worth thinking about, not as a quick fix for a specific issue, but as part of a long-term, everyday routine. This is where something like Joint Protect can fit in, formulated to support mobility and comfort over time.

This video has an example of a smaller dog, but it can be adapted for large dogs as well.

Try the stretches this week, see how your dog takes to them, and let us know how you go.
